Healthy Summer Hair Care

(Family Features) While the sun, pool days and warmer temperatures are often a welcome change come summer, they can be brutal on your hair. It’s important to give your locks some extra love this season.

“The sun, sweat and chlorine can fade color fast. Make sure you have the right products to protect your hair,” said Heather Brodzin, director of salon and spa with Beauty Brands. “Whether it’s styling aids, hair protectants, a smoother or moisturizer, make sure you consider your scalp and hair type for a tailored solution. Also don’t forget to schedule a trim with your stylist every 6-8 weeks to keep split ends at bay, or a deep conditioning treatment that gives your hair that extra boost of protection and moisture it needs. A little preparation and regular salon visits can help keep you looking and feeling your best all summer long.”

Find these products and more at BeautyBrands.com/SummerHair, or stop by your local store for hair-styling, inspiration and expert advice to ensure your summer is full of great hair days.

Get Relief from the Heat

Guard your hair against styling tools as well as summer’s ultraviolet rays and humidity with the 24-hour protection offered by a weightless spray like Living Proof Restore Instant Protection Living Proof Restore Instant Protection. Mist it on before styling and re-apply as needed, or use it as a finishing aid for shine and smoothing.

Extend Your Summer Style

Spend more time outside enjoying the summer sun and less time cooped up indoors styling your hair with dry shampoo like TIGI Bed Head Oh Bee Hive! Matte Dry Shampoo, which creates volume and texture without a lot of work.

Safeguard Your Color

Don’t let the summer sun steal your color. Captivating care can be a breeze with a gentle shampoo like Redken Color Extend Magnetics Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner, which uses amino-ions to build a barrier fortifying color and vibrance.

Shut Down Frizz

Keep your hair conditioned, hydrated and free of frizz this summer with a styling aid such as Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream. The lightweight formula moisturizes while it tames and helps create soft, natural summer styles.

Lock in Moisture

Unlike typical conditioners that rest on the surface of the hair, hair masks work their way into the hair cuticles to repair damage from the inside out. Regular application of a hair mask like Soulfood Nourishing Mask can add shine, increase manageability and provide essential nourishment to seal summer split ends.

Strengthen and Beautify

With 21 benefits inside one bottle, including shinier hair, shorter blow-drying time, frizz reduction and enduring hair color, an option like Pureology Colour Fanatic Multi-Tasking Hair Beautifier repairs damaged hair and shields it against heat and environmental damage by sealing hair cuticles.

5 beauty tips to take you from summer to fall

(BPT) - As the sunny days and sizzling heat of summer come to an end, it’s time to transition into a new hair and beauty routine. The shifting seasons can be the perfect time to try a new trend and there are plenty of style tricks that will help you gradually change your look along with the leaves.

Our favorite style experts share valuable tips for men and women to help you take your look to the next level.

1. Take day of TLC
After hours under the sun, spend a day pampering your skin. Use a sugar or salt scrub to get rid of rough patches, impurities and lingering dead skin cells. Then, use a scented body wash like Caress Mystic Forever body wash to seal in moisture. “There is nothing more attractive than soft skin and good fragrance,” says international plus size model Denise Bidot. “I love how the scent is released hours after I used it.” The fragrance touch technology in the body wash releases bursts of iris and amber scent throughout the day.

2. Embrace your Confidence

The transition period between summer and fall is a great time to re-energize. Men can up their game by changing deodorants. AXE Adrenaline Dry Spray Antiperspirant leaves no visible residue and will help you conquer your day with the long lasting fragrance of fresh green woods.

3. Start with a blank canvas

Before you begin your beauty routine for the day, make sure your entire face is clean. Iris Beilin, YouTube beauty guru, uses a cleansing wipes like POND’S Original Fresh Wet Cleansing Towelettes, to make sure her face is dirt and oil free. After that, moisturize and prime your face before putting on makeup.

4. Give your hair an intensive treatment

The elements can be hard on your hair, but you can fight the damage with a coconut oil treatment. Celebrity hairstylist Leonardo Rocco recommends using a repairing oil, like Suave Coconut Oil Infusion Damage Repair Oil Treatment, to bring your strands back to life. “In the shower, put a few drops into your hands, rub them together and apply it to your hair from the middle to the ends. Leave in for three minutes, rinse and style as usual,” says Rocco.

5. Deepen your color palette

Swap your gold, nude and bronze shades for a color palette more suitable for the autumn season. Rich shades of plum and wine pair well with matte textures and add warmth when you’re getting ready on those crisp fall mornings.

As the summer days come to an end, follow these tips to ease your transition into the crisp fall weather.

Caring for Your Underarms

While using a cleanser or lathering on sunblock may be an obvious part of a guy’s summer grooming routine – applying deodorant, and underarm health in general, is surprisingly important to men. Learn about proper underarm care and simple ways to manage common issues with this information.

Caring for Your Underarms

An essential summer grooming guide for men

(Family Features) With summer weather finally here, increased sweating is bound to happen. While using a cleanser or lathering on sunblock may be an obvious part of a guy’s summer grooming routine – applying deodorant, and underarm health in general, is surprisingly important to men.

Research from Dove Men+Care shows that nine out of 10 men agree that deodorant is one of the most important personal hygiene products they use in order to feel clean, fresh and confident – and half of men feel it’s especiallyimportant on a warm summer day.

Don’t Sweat It
With increased temperatures and men opting for short – or no – sleeves, 87 percent are seeking a deodorant that will make them feel confident enough to expose their underarms. According to the research, men are facing challenges when it comes to picking the right product, such as irritation, wetness and odor – leaving half feeling uncomfortable and annoyed.

“The study clearly reveals the gap between the issues men face and easy solutions to their problems. Many men are dealing with underarm issues, but only three out of 10 have spoken to their friends or family about experiencing these challenges,” said board-certified dermatologist Dr. Terrence Keaney. “We need to change this. As a physician, I want men to feel comfortable speaking to a medical professional about their underarm issues, as there are many ways to treat and prevent them.”

Underarms Uncovered
The study shows that 72 percent of men are concerned with the health of their underarms and over half of men have experienced underarm irritation, which has caused more than 52 percent of these men to switch their deodorant.

“I see so many men continue to switch their deodorant trying to find the one that’s right for them instead of seeking help from a physician or talking to one another about what’s bothering them,” Keaney said. “I highly recommend using a product that has moisturizing agents, such as Dove Men+Care’s Cool Fresh antiperspirant stick, which was developed with a clinically proven, non-irritating formula and moisturizing technology to actively care for men’s skin.”

With so many men facing these common challenges, Dove Men+Care has teamed up with leaders in fitness, style and grooming, along with Keaney, to create the Guide to Complete Underarm Care, which aims to open a dialogue around underarm health.

“Since men are so hesitant to talk to their doctors or friends, I think this online guide will be a terrific resource for them to ask the tough questions they have traditionally been too embarrassed to ask,” Keaney said.

Tips for Underarm Care

  • Talk to a doctor immediately if you’re experiencing underarm irritation to diagnose the cause.
  • Stop using your current deodorant or antiperspirant product.
  • Avoid products with strong fragrances if you have sensitive skin, seasonal allergies or asthma as these factors can contribute to underarm irritation.

Summer-Ready Beauty Secrets

6/14/2016

It’s time to get your body ready for tanks and shorts, bikinis at the beach, evenings out with friends and vacationing with family – all of which mean showing off your beautiful skin. Boost your summer beauty regimen by giving your body extra attention from head to toe with these expert tips and products.

Summer-Ready Beauty Secrets

(Family Features) It’s time to get your body ready for tanks and shorts, bikinis at the beach, evenings out with friends and vacationing with family – all of which mean showing off your beautiful skin. Summer styles call for a whole new approach to body care.

You can boost your summer beauty regimen by giving your body extra attention from head to toe and adding a few of these expert tips and products from European Wax Center to your routine, giving you the confidence to show off your skin at every warm-weather occasion.

Hair Removal Tips
One hair can make a big difference in how you look and feel, especially since you’re going to be showing off more skin this summer. European Wax Center’s Chief Wax Expert and Educator Melanie Gilliland offers the following tips to keep hair contained to and growing only where you want it:

  • Never tweeze ingrown hairs. Ingrown hairs would be much less of an issue if they were left alone and treated with an ingrown hair serum or ingrown hair wipes. Picking ingrown hairs makes them 10 times worse and can scar the skin. If the hair is partially outside of the skin and you can easily grab it with tweezers without breaking skin or digging in the least, feel free to remove it. If it requires digging, popping or squeezing, hide your tweezers and leave it alone.
  • Wax on a schedule. If you wax on a schedule without shaving, your waxes become easier over time. The most effective way to reduce discomfort is to wax on a schedule (approximately every 3-4 weeks), which will also help accelerate results, such as hair thinning and growing in more sparsely. Waxing too often (when the hair is too short) will actually be more painful and if the hair is too long, it indicates that you have waited too long and now the hair has had more time to root itself.

Smooth Me Wipes

Banish ingrown hairs
Make banishing bumps and ingrown hairs disappear quickly and easily while visibly helping slow the regrowth of hair between waxes with convenient, single-use Smooth Me Ingrown Hair Wipes that help nip pesky ingrown hairs anyplace, anytime. These portable wipes are infused with alpha and beta hydroxy acids, and prevent bumps when used daily (twice daily for existing breakouts).

Reveal Me Exfoliating Gel

Say bye, bye to dead skin
You can wave goodbye to dry, dead skin and accelerate cell renewal without any harsh abrasives and prevent ingrown hairs by helping keep hair follicles clear after waxing with Reveal Me Body Exfoliating Gel. Naturally derived fruit enzymes eliminate dry, dull surface cells and support natural cell turnover, and Comfort Blend calms, nourishes and restores skin. While it’s gentle enough for daily use, it’s recommended at least three times a week to help maintain beautiful skin.

Cheeky Strut Body Polish

Give your skin a radiant glow
Since you’ll be exposing more skin this summer, make sure it has an undeniably radiant glow. Cheeky, Graceful and Sensual Strut Body Polishes are high-performing exfoliators that help prevent unsightly bumps and ingrown hairs, visibly slowing the growth of hair between waxes to keep skin smooth and looking its best.
